Acer Aspire One Fad!!!!

acer-aspire-oneHaving caused a huge buzz in the gadgets’ news world, the word netbooks (being a portmanteau of the words Internet and notebook) has truly set a new benchmark in the mobility of technology. Brought about by the shrinkage in the size of the laptop, the netbook is a small portable laptop essentially used for wireless communication and access to the Internet. They are typically low cost notebooks that are indeed the talk of the town since its advent in 2008 - 2009. But of course, none of the leading players in this market can afford to lag behind in making the headlines of the tech news,  and here evolve the true winners – Acer Aspire One.

Acer Aspire One in particular is a compact netbook that was launched by Mother Company Acer Inc. setting fire in the gadget news blogosphere. The Aspire is supported by the Intel Atom family with the Intel Atom N270 processor, Intel 945GSE Express chipset and Intel 82801GBM (ICH7M) I/O controller. The line was initially being manufactured by Quantum Computer and earlier this year, with the increasing number of models, several other manufacturers have been taken into its fold.

The models with a name ending in X or B have Windows XP Home Edition SP3 installed, whereas those ending in L or A have Linpus Linux Lite installed. However it is possible to install Windows Vista, Windows 7 or any other Linux versions too. In fact it extends its compatibility to various other x86 operating software also.

In terms of storage, the SSD or solid-state drive containing models that come at 8GB or 16GB have been condemned for its unhurried read and write speed, but the HDD (hard disk drive) containing models operate at a regular 2.5-in 5400 rpm SATA drive with 120 or 160 GB. All the models come with an additional SD/SDHC storage expansion slot expandable up to 16GB max. The Linux versions entail direct expansion of the SSD or HDD using aufs. The second slot gives space to a standard multi-in-1 flash memory card reader however booting from the HD or using a boot partition or the likes is not possible from these slots.

The official ratings for the battery are upto 7hours for the 6-cell and 3 hours for the 3-cell. The latest models come with scores of improvements on this aspect. 3 USB 2.0 ports, ” CrystalBrite LED backlit LCD screen with 1024×600 resolution,  Integrated CrystalEye™ webcam,  802.11b/g Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G wireless access (with activation) are astounding features that accompany the netbook.

Now, taking a look at its design – small compact and sleek, it is available in several shell colors: seashell white, sapphire blue, golden brown, black, and coral pink.

It seems to give you no reason to refrain from owning one.  So get set go gadget vogue and indulge into the Acer Aspire One fad!!!!
